SonoBat version 2.9.7

SonoBat 2.97 continues the development of SonoBat with the addition of numerous minor enhancements. Most notably, SonoBat 2.97 can better discriminate weaker call content and calls buried in background noise, and better determine call trends of weaker calls. Although SonoBat would likely reject many of these weak calls for data analysis*, they nonetheless display for manual inspection and interpretation of the sequence.

Additional updates in SonoBat v2.97:

• Full Windows 7 compatibility.

• Improved discrimination of calls, independent of noise and frequency band.

• Improved automated std view length selection of calls, independent of noise and frequency band.

• Improved call trending analysis of low power calls.

• Fixed a limitation that rendered alias harmonics on sonograms of some high sample rate file formats.

• Fixed a limitation that rendered files unreadable if the attributed note included the word "data."

• Enabled changes made in preference settings to activate without relaunching SonoBat, e.g., changing the upper frequency scale on the sonogram display.

• Added additional 15 kHz cutoff filter option.

• Added interpretation option for TE=15x recordings.

Version 2.9.6

• Adjusted sonogram processing to optimize using files acquired at lower sampling rates, e.g., as from the Wildlife Acoustics SM2BAT units.

• Changed sonogram to enable setting upper frequency value of display to enable comparative viewing of all files regardless of sampling rate of detector used to acquire the file. Also added a preference setting for this value.

• New utility: D500x File Attributer for time stamping and adding SonoBat notes and attributes to files.

Version 2.9.4

• Improved sonogram display attributes. Automatically adjust sonogram to optimize display for different file formats.

• Support for WavPack files. SonoBat can now open WavPack files without need to first convert them to wav files.

SonoBat 2.9.2 incorporates automated developed as part of the upcoming automated species classification of SonoBat 3.

            
• Automated standard view length selection, automated filtering, automated call trending, and automated call parameterization.

SonoBat intelligent call trending (displayed in yellow) tracks calls through noise and echoes. Note how zero-cross analysis (shown in magenta dots below) can miss the lower amplitude end-of-call details in the presence of noise and echoes. Zero-cross analysis can only detect the strongest frequency component at any time and can miss call trends when other signals exceed the amplitude of the call component. Full-spectrum data enables SonoBat intelligent call trending to reliably track the time-frequency trend of the entire call.

• Improved discrimination logic to seek signals with tonal content, independent of signal strength.

• Improved Batch Scrubber logic to prevent scrubbing of low frequency calls.

• Enhanced and expanded parameter set.

• Call data spreadsheet now automatically writes with data headers.

• Preference panel setting for enabling analysis automatically upon standard view selection.

• Improved Batch Attributer to enable batch attributing without changing original filenames.
